The pools of the sugar factory

June 27th, 2020, Frasnes. First visit to the old “décanteurs” of the sugar factory in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing. The pools were used to have the sugar beets macerate in water. Todays these pools host dozens of different species of birds, insects, etc. We are particularly charmed by the red-eyed looms of the various ponds.

The ridge of Vimy

June 26th, 2020. The journey lead us to an impressive memorial of World War I. This is the “Mémorial des Canadiens”, in memory to the 60.000 Canadian soldiers who died in the North of France, conceived and sculptured by Walter Seymour Allward. The entire monument displays harmony, compassion, perennity.

The shacks of “Le Périgord noir”

2017-2019, Vallée de la Vézère, Dordogne, France. The sheperd’s huts or shacks can be found all over the black Périgord, they have different names (for example, “borie”) but, most correctly, they are named “les cabanes en pierres sèches”.
