La Palma skies.

April 2013. La Palma, Canary Islands, Spain. On top of the Caldera de Taburiente, at an altitude of over 2400 meter, you’ll find Europe’s biggest astronomical observatory of the northern hemisphere, showing impressive skies to the visiting astronomers. The first image shows the biggest telescope: the 10-meter Grantecan. The second image shows the 1-m robotic Liverpool telescope, already sweeping the skies! The bright dot in the sky is the crescent moon.
